Working in Neighborhoods (WIN) is a partner in Hamilton County’s The Revive +Thrive Home Repair Loan Program. This initiative helps eligible Hamilton County residents (outside the City of Cincinnati), make essential home repairs such as electrical repairs, roof replacement, energy efficiency upgrades. “We have a tremendous need in our low- and middle-income communities for rehabs, especially for our legacy homeowners,” claimed WIN’s executive director S. Barbara Busch. “We must help families be able to get needed repairs and to do it in such a way that it is not overburdensome to their finances.” People interested in learning more should call United Way at 211.
Revive + Thrive provides loans, ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, at a 2% interest rate. Homeowners must meet the income requirements of 80% AMI or below. This translates to a gross annual income of up to $75,500 for a household of 3 or up to $58,700 for a single member household.
This initiative is designed for people who may struggle to qualify for traditional loans. “If we are really interested in increasing African American homeownership we need to produce more homes and make certain that people are able to maintain their homes. This allows families to pass wealth to the next generation,” remarked Busch.
WIN will provide one-one-one support to program participants as they navigate the process. Other Revive +Thrive partners include United Way 211 and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati.
LISC Greater Cincinnati is managing the project which is funded by a $2 million investment from the Hamilton County Commission through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Greater Cincinnati Foundation is providing additional support, and Warsaw Federal Bank is providing the loans.
