This month has been very eventful for WIN’s housing development team. Our first two Near-Net-Zero homes are on the market and our realtor has been hosting showings for prospective buyers. We are currently finishing up with the final stages of pre-development for our next three Near-Net-Zero Urban Village houses.
We are preparing to begin excavation on two 2-story homes that will be constructed with a highly efficient building envelope for year-round passive comfort. Around the corner on Agnes Street, we have signed a contract with Unibilt Industries to deliver us a modular home. We are excited about the floor plan and selections for this project —it will be a single-story ranch home with a full basement, complete with a wheelchair-accessible entry ramp and main living space.
The power generated in these homes will be offset with roof-mounted solar panel systems, providing the future homeowners with significant cost and energy savings. All homes will be Gold certified through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, the world’s most widely used green building rating system. Pre-development and permitting can be a long process, but I always keep in mind the future families that will be able to call this place their home at the end of the day.
