Working In Neighborhoods (WIN), in partnership with Union Savings Bank/Guardian Savings Bank and the Ohio CDC Association, launched its 2025–2026 Senior Individual Development Account (IDA) program with a kickoff celebration on September 25 at WIN’s South Cumminsville campus.
The program helps homeowners age 60 and older save for critical home repairs through financial coaching, education, and matched savings. Ten participants have committed to saving $250 in monthly deposits over nine months. With a 14:1 match, participants who meet all program requirements will receive up to $3,500 in additional funds toward needed home repairs.
Dorothy Bush, a participant from South Fairmount, plans to use her funds to replace siding damaged in 2024 by high winds and rain from Hurricane Helene. “I need the holes in the side of my house fixed before I can get the roof fixed, before I can get the inside of my house fixed,” Bush shared. “This program will help.”
Keith Borders, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer for Union Savings Bank/Guardian Savings Bank, emphasized the importance of the collaboration: “We are proud to serve folks who may not have the resources to make repairs. This is what grassroots support and leadership looks like, and we look forward to seeing the projects these Senior IDA recipients will complete.”
WIN Executive Director S. Barbara Busch added: “Residents tell us what they need, and our role is to connect them with financial partners. Together, we can help families stay safely in their homes and build generational wealth.”
